Immigration & Global Talent Transfer.
‘Whenever there is a need for the transfer of football players, coaches or, indeed, any talent in the sports, media or entertainment industry, a work permit will be required. Holland Park Chambers’ barristers’ combined expertise of sports and immigration law make them ideally suited to advise and write opinions in relation to specific talents that clubs and organisations need; draft the necessary applications and paperwork, and communicate with the Home Office and industry regulators and/or governing bodies for endorsement (for example, the Football Association in relation to footballers).
Advice can also be given to football clubs to review players’ eligibility for governing body endorsements and advise on appeals, where necessary. There are great opportunities available to clubs to recruit talent from across the globe in post-Brexit Britain, whilst minimising the hurdle newly imposed in relation to European footballers.
In areas outside football, where talent is needed to come and work in the UK, the same immigration rules will be applied, for example, in any other sporting sector, the entertainment industry and model agencies.’
